Global football governing body, FIFA has banned Chad from football until further notice.

The decision was taken by the Bureau of the Fifa Council on Wednesday and takes effect immediately.

Note that in December 2020, Fifa had rejected a request from the country’s ministry of sports to dissolve the Chadian Football Federation.

On March 10, the minister for youth and sports released a statement to prevent the Chadian Football Association, FTFA, from performing its obligatory duties due to a dispute between- both parties.

CAF then disqualified Chad from the Africa Cup of Nations qualification race, just a few days prior to their fixtures against Namibia and Mali, following the sport Minister's actions.

FIFA has now waded in, banning the country henceforth.

Fifa bans Chad from football activities for life

FIFA says the ban was as a result of government interference in the football operations of the African country but announced that the suspension will be reversed as soon as the relevant government decisions have been revoked.

“The Bureau of the Fifa Council decided to suspend the Chadian Football Association (FTFA) with immediate effect due to government interference,” a statement from the Fifa website read.

“The suspension was prompted by the recent decisions of Chadian government authorities to permanently withdraw the powers delegated to the FTFA, establish a national committee for the temporary management of football and seize control of the FTFA’s premises.

“The suspension will be lifted once the relevant government decisions have been repealed and the FTFA and its management, led by president Moctar Mahamoud Hamid, have confirmed to Fifa that the FTFA premises are again under its control.”

Ace music producer Don Jazzy yesterday shocked the world when he announced he had an ex-wife by the name Michelle Jackson after posting photos of their wedding.

The Mavin CEO whom many had before yesterday regarded as a top bachelor, revealed that he got married when he was just 20 years old and got divorced 2 years later because he gave more attention to his music.

He further stated that he regretted the action, but his love for music can not be replaced with any other thing in the world.

He wrote:

“I getting married? Well truth is almost 18 years ago I was 20 and I got married to my best friend Michelle @yarnstaswitch and it was beautiful. I loved love and I loved marriage. Michelle is soooo beautiful inside and outside with such a soft heart. But then me being so young and full of dreams I went and fucked it up cos I was giving all my time to my Music.

Music became priority instead of my family. We got divorced when I was 22 and it hurt. I am still very much in love with my music and I wouldn’t want to marry another and fuck it up again. So I’m taking my time. Why am I just saying this now?? I really like to keep my relationships private actually. Past or present. But I was watching the bounce interview with Ebuka which is almost like a tell all interview, and I felt bad skipping this huge part of my life. So yeah make una no vex o.”

The Nigerian Air Force has dismissed a video by Boko Haram where' the terror group claimed it shot down a missing alpha jet.

The air force had declared the jet missing during an operation against the terrorists in Borno on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the air force said the jet may have crashed but the cause of the crash was yet to be ascertained. It also named the two pilots in the jet who were still missing.

However, on Friday, the Boko Haram released a video showing what appeared to be the downing of an aircraft and some Boko Haram fighters standing on or close to the parts of a downed aircraft.

In his statement late Friday, air force spokesperson Edward Gabkwet said the video was mere propaganda.

“Although the video is still being thoroughly analysed, it is evident that most parts of the video were deliberately doctored to give the false impression that the aircraft was shot down,” the air commodore said.

Read his full statement below.

NAF Dismisses Boko Haram’s Video on Alpha Jet as False Propaganda 1.

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to some videos being circulated on Social Media, as well as media reports drawn therefrom, alleging that the NAF Alpha Jet aircraft, which was reported missing in Borno State on 31 March 2021 after losing radar contact, was shot down by terrorists.

One of such videos, in particular, began with sporadic shooting by several terrorists, including underaged children on motorcycles and vehicles. It later skipped abruptly to a scene depicting an aircraft exploding mid-air, supposedly as a result of enemy action. Another part of the video showed a terrorist, who, while standing by the wreckage, claimed that they had shot down the NAF aircraft.

2. Although the video is still being thoroughly analysed, it is evident that most parts of the video were deliberately doctored to give the false impression that the aircraft was shot down. For instance, the video clip failed to show the correlation between- the sporadic shooting, which even from casual observation was obviously aimed at ground targets, and the sudden mid-air aircraft explosion.

In addition, it is almost impossible for an aircraft to have exploded mid-air, in the manner depicted in the video, and still have a good part of its fuselage, including its tail, intact. Indeed, an explosive impact of that nature would have scattered the debris of the aircraft across several miles.

3. It is obvious that the Boko Haram Sect, in its characteristic manner of employing false propaganda, is seeking to claim credit for what was obviously an air accident that could have been caused by several other reasons; particularly at a time when the capability of the group to inflict mayhem has been significantly degraded by the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

4. Consequently, Nigerians are please advised to ignore the contents of the videos making the rounds until all investigations as to how the aircraft crashed are completed. The NAF, on its part, remains resolute and will continue to work assiduously, in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, to rid the North East of all terrorist elements. The abduction happened early hours of Friday, February 26, few days after Kagara students were kidnapped in Niger state.

According to reports, about 300 female students of GSS Jangebe in Zamfara state were kidnapped by the gunmen.

Confirming the incidents, the state commissioner for information, Hon. Suleiman Tunau Anka said the gunmen stormed the school around early hours of Friday morning and abducted the students.

However, he stated that the number of student abducted are yet to be identified by the state government.

Reacting to the kidnap in a recent statement released by Garba Shehu, President Buhari sent out a strong warning to the bandits.

He explained that the only reason security agents haven’t attacked them was due to fear of heavy causality of civilians who might be used as human shield.

See statement below;

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the latest abduction of hundreds of students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara State as inhumane and totally unacceptable, sending out a strong warning to bandits and their sponsors.

Reacting to the incident on Friday, President Buhari said that “this administration will not succumb to blackmail by bandits who target innocent school students in the expectations of huge ransom payments.”

According to the President, “no criminal group can be too strong to be defeated by the government,” adding that, “the only thing standing between- our security forces and the bandits are the rules of engagement.”

“We have the capacity to deploy massive force against the bandits in the villages where' they operate, but our limitation is the fear of heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages who might be used as human shields by the bandits,” he said,…

…stressing that “our primary objective is to get the hostages safe, alive and unharmed.”

President Buhari noted that “a hostage crisis is a complex situation that requires maximum patience in order to protect the victims from physical harm or even brutal death at the hands of their captors.”

He warned the bandits: “Let them not entertain any illusions that they are more powerful than the government. They shouldn’t mistake our restraint for the humanitarian goals of protecting innocent lives as a weakness or a sign of fear or irresolution.”

The President appealed to state governments “to review their policy of rewarding bandits with money and vehicles, warning that the policy might boomerang disastrously.”

He also advised states and local governments to be more proactive by improving security around schools and their surroundings.

He pleaded guilty to one count amended charge preferred against him and convicted and sentenced to 18-months imprisonment.

A man identified as Adelanke Adesola Abiodun (a.k.a. Richard Lopez/ Walker Fabian Gregory) has been sentenced to prison.

Justice Babs Kwuemi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, convicted and sentenced the man to 18-months imprisonment for impersonation.

The 25-year-old who claimed to be an Accounting graduate from Ekiti State University was a sales representative with a private company when he was arrested by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Crime Commission, EFCC, for internet fraud, the agency said in a statement.

He pleaded guilty to one count amended charge preferred against him and convicted and sentenced to 18-months imprisonment.

Justice Kwuemi, the presiding judge also gave a consequential order that he restitutes to his victim, one Frida Thorsdottir the sum of $1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred United States of American Dollars), through the EFCC.

A global human rights body has lamented over the inability of the federal government to bring those who killed #ENDSARS protesters at Lekki to justice.

The federal government has been accused of denying justice to protesters shot at during #EndSARs protest in October of 2020.
Amnesty International lamented following 100 days since the incident took place.
Since the shooting at Lekki tollgate in Lagos State, the government has yet to secure justice for the victims of the incident but has been engaging in denials and cover-up.
Amnesty International expressed worry that the EndSARS movement's supporters have continued to face intimidation from the state actors such as the Central Bank of Nigeria which since December 2020 froze the accounts of about 20 identified supporters.
In a release on Thursday, the AI stated that the authorities had yet to initiate concrete police reforms.
The international body said, "Since the assault by security forces, which killed at least 12 people, Nigerian authorities have targeted supporters of the protests against police brutality by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Some of the movement's supporters have had their bank accounts frozen."
"The bloody events of 20 October 2020, when Nigerian security forces killed at least 12 people during the violent dispersal of peaceful #EndSARS protesters at Lekki and Alausa, have cast a shadow over Nigerian society that lingers to this day," said Osai Ojigho, Director of Amnesty International Nigeria.

"Instead of bringing suspected perpetrators to justice and prioritising genuine police reforms, Nigerian authorities have been abusing their powers by subjecting those who supported the protests to intimidation, harassment and smear campaigns."

The AI stated that reports from across Nigeria indicated that police violence was still widespread despite government promises of change.
Amnesty International noted that it was concerned that the Nigerian authorities would continue their current ban on protests.
It reminded the government of its obligations under the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 (as amended) and international human rights treaties to - which the country is a state party - to allow those who gather peacefully to express their views without fear of arrest or intimidation.
"International human rights law also requires the Nigerian authorities to carry out prompt, thorough, independent, impartial and effective investigations into violations of human rights of the protesters including the right to life, such as those committed at Lekki and Alausa, as well as in other parts of the country, and to identify and bring suspected perpetrators to justice in fair trials.

"Those suspected to be responsible for the killings should be brought to justice in accordance with international fair trial standards," Ojigho added.
Amnesty International is calling on the Nigerian government to suspend accused officials, pending investigations, and to ensure that victims access justice and effective remedies.
It will be recalled that the state government set up a panel of inquiry to investigate complaints against SARS and the incidents at Lekki and Alausa on 20 October 2020.
However, the government officials and the military continue to deny that anybody was killed during the protests while restating their resolve to punish leaders of the #EndSARS movement against police violence.

The National Identity Management Commission has revealed that telecommunication companies can now conduct NIN registration.

Telecommunications companies will now be able to register Nigerians who have not gotten their National Identification Number.
According to Punch, the revelation was made by National Identity Management Commission.
NIMC said the measure is to reduce the large crowds at its officers.
Director-General, NIMC, Aliyu Aziz, said some other private and public organisations had also been licensed by the commission to provide NINs in order to address the crowds at commission’s offices.
This came as workers of the commission told Punch on Tuesday that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, had constituted a committee to address the demands of NIMC employees.
NIMC workers had downed tools on January 7, 2021 in protest against the poor welfare issues at the commission, but their strike was suspended after the intervention of the minister.
Responding to an enquiry as regards measures taken by NIMC with respect to complains by citizens and the crowds at the commission’s offices, Aziz said mobile network operators had been empowered to also give the identity numbers.
“We have licensed private and public sector organisations including telcos ( telecommunications companies) so as to create more centres,” he stated in a WhatsApp message to our correspondent.
On December 15, 2020, the Federal Government declared that after December 30, 2020, all SIMs that were not registered with valid NINs on the network of telecommunications companies would be blocked .
It later extended the December 30, 2020 deadline following widespread opposition against the earlier announcement and gave three weeks’ extension for subscribers with NIN from December 30, 2020 to January 19, 2021.
It also gave six weeks’ extension for subscribers without NIN from December 30, 2020 to February 9, 2021, but many organisations had called for further deadline extension or outright suspension of the NIN registration process due to the large crowds who had yet to have their NINs .
On the meeting between- NIMC workers and the communication minister, the President, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC Unit, Asekokhai Lucky, said some resolutions were reached.
He said the minister told the union- that some of the demands being presented by the workers were new to him, as he only took over the supervisory role of NIMC in October 2020.
“So what he (Pantami) did was to set up a seven-man committee to work on the issues and submit a report to him in two weeks’ time,” Lucky stated.
Lucky said the 21-day ultimatum earlier issued the management of NIMC was still in force, although there had been calls for the union- to step down the ultimatum.
